Masters program

Areas of interest: Contemporary art, particularly of a parafictional nature, in the United States and Eastern Europe.

Hannah Sage Kay received her Masters in modern and contemporary art from the Institute of Fine Arts at NYU and her Bachelors from Bard College. Her thesis, “Weathering the Storm: Media Hoaxing as a Quasi-Antidote to Disinformation,” analyzed the regional cultural motivations that underpin parafictional projects in Eastern Europe. More broadly, her research focuses on the intersection of art and politics with regard to media manipulation, misinformation, and the construction of fictionalized (or alternate) histories. Her writing has appeared in Nka Journal of Contemporary African Art, The Brooklyn Rail, Voices in Contemporary Art, and Contemporary Art Review Los Angeles, amongst others.
