Ato-Obong Ini-Abasi Akpama

Masters program
Areas of interest: Pre-Modern Africa and the Middle East.
Ato-Obong Akpama graduated from St. Johns University with a BS in Biology and a Minor in Spanish. She then got her MFA with a concentration in oil painting from the New York Academy of Art. In December 2021/January 2022, she traveled to Nigeria to work on her ethno-photography project called Roots. Currently, she is a first-year MA candidate at The Institute of Fine Arts, NYU, and intends to pursue a concentration in Pre-Modern Africa and the Middle East.
