Area of interest: Conservation of art on paper and photographic materials; Preventive conservation; Arts of South Asia.
Emma Hartman received a BA in Art & the History of Art and Chemistry, Amherst College (2017); and a Fulbright-Nehru Student Research Fellowship at the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts, New Delhi (2017-18). She is currently based at the Yale Center for British Art where she holds a fellowship in paper conservation. Recent projects include the analysis and treatment of an 18th century Jain painted letter-scroll from Udaipur and the study of depictions of women using pyrotechnics in 18th century North Indian paintings.
