Jennifer Todaro
PhD Candidate
Area of interest: Ancient Egyptian and Nubian tattoos, body modifications, and adornments.
Jennifer Todaro’s research explores the role of the crafted body and body aestheticizations in longue durée Nilotic cultural interaction. Her approach synthesizes models and methodologies from archaeology, anthropology, art history, and art practice.
Todaro, with a previous degree and career in graphic design, recently earned her BA in Archaeology from Columbia University, graduating Summa Cum Laude, Phi Beta Kappa. She has presented work at the Society for Africanist Archaeology (SAfA) Annual Conference and at the Theoretical Archaeology (TAG) Conference of America, with additional research published in Sapient, the Columbia University Undergraduate Journal of Biological Anthropology.
