Ankita Srivastava
PhD Candidate
Area of interest: Early Modern South Asian art, Early Modern European art, Early Photography.
Ankita Srivastava holds a BA in History from Indraprastha College for Women, Delhi University, an MA in Arts and Aesthetics (with courses in Visual, Theatre, and Cinema Studies) and an M.Phil. in Visual Studies from the School of Arts and Aesthetics, Jawaharlal Nehru University, India. She is interested in early modern cross-cultural exchanges and artistic productions between South Asia and Europe. During her M.Phil., she worked on Neoclassical sculptures made in Rome for North India. Her current research interests lie in studying depictions and conceptions of the afflicted body in art at the intersections of medical and therapeutic knowledge systems of European "tropical" medicine and "native" practices of South Asia.
