Rebecca A. Salem
PhD Candidate
Areas of interest: Greek architecture, primarily of the Archaic and Classical periods; Architectural history and theory; Archaeology of the ancient Mediterranean; 3D modeling; Cultural heritage; temporality.
Rebecca Salem is a PhD candidate studying Greek art and architecture. Previously, she earned her MA in Art History and MA in Anthropology from the University of Nebraska - Lincoln and an MA in Managing Archaeological Sites from University College London. She has excavated in Greece, Italy, Spain, and the UK, and since 2019 has been a team member of the American-Italian Excavations at Selinunte and of American Excavations Samothrace. She received the Archaeological Institute for America’s 2024-2025 Anna C. and Oliver C. Colburn fellowship for 2024-2025. Rebecca is co-curating the forthcoming 2025 exhibition Imag(in)ing Samothrace: From Homer to the HoloLens at the Makriyannis Wing in Athens.
