Corey Loftus
PhD Candidate
Areas of interest: Modern Art, History of Photography, Latin American Art, Feminist, Queer, & Crip studies, Philosophies of Embodiment, Historic Preservation.
Corey Loftus is a PhD candidate at the Institute studying modern art. Her research focuses broadly on art that concerns the body and sexuality with a particular interest in representations of the gravid subject. Professionally, she has worked in programming and curatorial roles at art institutions including the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Asheville Art Museum, the Institute of Contemporary Art (Boston), the Institute of Contemporary Art (Philadelphia), and the Barnes Foundation. She has contributed essays to the Journal of Latin American and Latinx Visual Culture, The Religious Studies Review, and the Asheville Art Museum website. Corey received her BA summa cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania and MA from Tufts University.
