Jinyi Liu
PhD Candidate
Areas of interest: late Imperial Chinese art and material culture; production and materiality of decorative arts; objects of early modern global trade; visual representation and spatial experience of urban landscape.
Jinyi Liu studies Chinese art and material culture of the Ming and Qing dynasties, with a focus on the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. She received an M.A. in Art History from Ohio University and an M.A. in Decorative Arts, Design History, and Material Culture from Bard Graduate Center. Prior to joining the Institute, she has held teaching positions at Columbus College of Art and Design and curatorial internships in the Asian Art department at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and Philadelphia Museum of Art.
