Che-ying Hsu

Areas of interest: Pre-Modern East Asian art, with a focus on Chinese calligraphy and painting in the 10th-14th centuries; Arts of Song & Yuan.

Prior to joining IFA in 2017, I earned my MA in Taiwan, where my experience as a docent at Taipei’s National Palace Museum (NPM) exposed me to various artistic mediums. My dissertation project explores Yuan period Jiaxing’s painting, focusing on renowned artists like Wu Zhen and Sheng Mao, as well as lesser-known Jiaxing-based Buddhist prints and embroidery. Additionally, I participated in NPM’s creative aging program, which aims to enrich the lives of older individuals through art. You can watch one of our productions with English subtitles.
