Kinaya Hassane studies the visual culture of the Swahili coast and African Indian Ocean islands. Prior to joining the IFA, Kinaya was a Curatorial Fellow at the Library Company of Philadelphia, where she co-curated Imperfect History: Curating the Graphic Arts Collection at Benjamin Franklin's Public Library (2021-2022). Kinaya received her BA with honors in Art History from Bowdoin College and was a Mellon Mays Undergraduate Fellow.
