Fangjie Deng
PhD Candidate
Areas of interest: Chinese Painting from the 10th to the 14th Century, Chinese Landscape Painting, Technique of Chinese Ink Painting, Visual Art of Medieval China.
Fangjie Deng is a PhD Candidate specializing in Chinese art. Her research focuses on medium, materiality, and temporality. She is currently writing a dissertation on the role of water in the painting production of the "Tang-Song transition." Her current second research project developed from her M.A. thesis at the Institute of Fine Arts, exploring the paintings of Huang Gongwang (1269-1354) and Ni Zan (1301-1374). Deng held a curatorial internship at the Princeton University Art Museum.
