Conservation Treatment Inquiries
Thank you for your interest in loaning an item to our program. Occasionally, our courses need loan items for teaching and research. Any treatment of these items is always overseen by a faculty or adjunct faculty member. There is no fee for this work. However, we welcome donations to support materials and supplies associated with this work and in support of our students.
Please consider the following information before contacting us regarding a potential loan:
- We do not insure loaned items
- The loan of an item to our program does not guarantee treatment
- The timeline of treatment is no shorter than one academic semester (four months), but treatments often require additional time
- The transportation of the item is the responsibility of the owner
- We generally do not take paintings for treatment, objects are our most sought after loan type
- We do not work in the authentication of items
If, after considering these points, you determine your item is better suited for a conservator in private practice, a list of those alumni can be found here.
If you are interested in submitting an item for consideration, please fill out this form/p>
Any outstanding questions regarding loans can be directed to Lauren Klein, Lab and Collections Manager lek358@nyu.edu.
