Nigora Akhmedova
Nigora Akhmedova is a PhD in Art History, professor, and academician of the Academy of Arts of Uzbekistan, curator,as well as an honorary professor at T. Zhurgenov Kazakh National Academy of Arts. She graduated from the Department of Art History and Theory at the I.E. Repin Institute of Painting, Sculpture, and Architecture in St. Petersburg. She was a head of the Department of Art History and Theory at the K. Behzod National Institute of Arts and Design. Akhmedova is a chief researcher at the Fine Arts Department of the Institute of Art Studies of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan, where she served as the head of the department from 2003 to 2009. Her main areas of scholarly interest include the art of the Central Asian countries in the 20th and early 21st centuries, issues of ethnocultural identity, and contemporary art.
