Archaeological Excavations
The Institute of Fine Arts operates five major excavations across the Mediterranean and Africa—including nearly century-long work at Samothrace's Sanctuary of the Great Gods, ambitious co-sponsored digs at Egypt's Abydos, fifty years at Turkey's Aphrodisias, recent excavations at Sudan's Temple of Sanam, and ongoing research at Sicily's Selinunte—that produce groundbreaking scholarship reshaping our understanding of the ancient world.
